HON. CHRISTOPHER BRADLEY

Hon. Christopher G. Bradley serves on the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, covering cases in the Austin and El Paso divisions.

Since taking the bench, Judge Bradley has served as Education Chair for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges and as an Editorial Advisory Board member of the American Bankruptcy Law Journal. Immediately before his appointment to the bench, Judge Bradley served as a tenured law professor at the University of Kentucky and briefly at the University of Florida. He taught  courses including bankruptcy, corporate finance, secured transactions, contracts, and business associations, and he was recognized for his teaching and mentoring of students. He co-authored a casebook and a treatise, published numerous articles, and served as contributing editor to the Bankruptcy Law Letter. He also served as a Uniform Law Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Judge Bradley grew up in the Dallas area. He graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude. His law degree is from New York University, where he graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. He also holds a doctorate in Medieval English literature from the University of Oxford. After law school, Judge Bradley clerked for Judge Patrick Higginbotham of the Fifth Circuit and Judge Tony Davis of the Western District of Texas bankruptcy court, and he practiced with Weil Gotshal in Houston and with several law firms in Austin. In addition to engaging in substantial pro bono and community service activities, he was involved with bar associations and the Hon. Larry E. Kelly Bankruptcy Inn of Court, and he served as chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Texas.
